Cheap Cancun Tulum Transportation

October 14th, 2009 olympus Posted in Cancun Reviews No Comments »

So, you have saved up a lot for your trip to Cancun and you want to see things that are in the area, but you are on a very tight budget. Never fear, there are still some options you can use so you can see ruins like Tulum without breaking your bank. Thankfully there is a lot of Cancun Tulum Transportation that is very affordable if you know where to look.

In this article we are going to look at taking the bus to Tulum and seeing the area like a local.

Getting the Bus

There are a few locations where you can pick up Cancun Tulum Transportation by bus. The first is right as soon as you land at the Cancun airport, as there is a bus terminal there. There is also another main bus terminal in Cancun and one in Playa Del Carmen. Any of these places will let you get on the bus that offers Cancun Tulum Transportation.

Getting To Tulum

How long it will take you to get to Tulum by bus is going to depend on which of the bus sites you board at. If you are at the airport or in Cancun, you will have more stops than if you are boarding in Playa Del Carmen as there is only one stop after Playa Del Carmen until you are at Tulum.

Which Tulum Stop

There are two bus stops in Tulum that you can choose from. If you are going to be staying in Tulum as well as seeing the ruins, the second stop will likely be the one you will choose as it will be taking you to downtown Tulum. If you are just coming out to see the ruin site, you should take the first stop as this one drops you off right at the entry road to the ruins.

Getting Back

Getting back to Cancun or the airport from the ruins is not too difficult. The busses run in regular intervals of between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on how busy a time of day it is, so you won’t have to wait too long to catch one back. Just make sure to pay attention to where the bus is going.

The Cost

This is the part you are really going to like. The bus to Tulum is likely going to only cost about $5, for a total of $10. Not bad for a trip out and back.

But if you want to have a taste of authentic Mexican culture on your holiday, you should stay at one of the Cancun hotels on the mainland part of town, in Ciudad Cancun.  Ciudad Cancun is where the locals stay, and most of the shops and restaurants there cater more to the locals than to the tourists.  You can get your sample of Mexican life there.  You should also stay at the Cancun hotels in this part of town if you want to use Cancun as the starting point for your day trips and excursions.
